It has been such a great year with all my 2016 couples and I could not have asked for a better year! I photographed 28 weddings this year and have gained so much knowledge and had so much fun all at the same time! I’m so thankful for all my second shooters who were able to capture these behind the scenes photos.
I wanted to share a few tips for wedding photographers for the new year!
1.Get a comfortable and functional camera strap!
I started out with the Black Rapid and it was great but I really wanted the option to use 2 cameras at the same time. In the fall I switched to the Hold Fast Money Maker and shares my experiences here.
2.Dress comfortable & functional!
In the winter I love wearing dress with leggings and boots. I stay warm and can move around with no issues. In the summer I love wearing maxi dresses and utility vests. I love wearing a vest in the summer or light jacket in the winter so I have pockets for my phone, back up SD cards, and an extra battery! I also wear my Fitbit Alta, because I always know what time it is, I get text and phone calls to my wrist in case the bride or a vendor needs me on the wedding day I won’t miss their calls or text, and gotta get my steps in!
3.In the summer be prepared for bug bites, ant bites, and sun burns!
I definitely was not prepared this year and got so many bug bites and especially ant bites because I wore sandals! It was miserable! I created a insect repellent with essential oils for those summers with lots of mosquitos! I also carry a few essential oils in my camera bag. I always bring Lavender because it works great on ant bites! Later I will be sharing everything I carry in my camera bag and will share about the other essential oils I bring with me to every wedding and photo shoot!
4.Go with the flow!
Even if it rains, the day isn’t running “on time,” and something doesn’t go the way you planned, just go with the flow and keep everyone happy! Have a great attitude and always have fun, and maybe even dance to the wobble or copperhead road! š
